How drones conquered the world of entertainment

1. Dancing with Drones - an Art and Science collaboration

Dancing with Drones was an EU-funded ICT & ART Connect project. In cooperation with the EU ERC CollMot Robotics research group directed by Prof. Tamás Vicsek of Eötvös University, Budapest, created the first ever human-drone aerial group dance.
The project was a collaboration between choreographer Nina Kov (London), and the CollMot Robotics Research Group (Budapest), who recently created the first completely autonomous flock of quadcopter drones.
2. Cirque du Soleil - SPARKED: A Live Interaction Between Humans and Quadcopters

Cirque du Soleil, ETH Zurich, and Verity Studios partnered to develop a short film featuring 10 quadcopters in a flying dance performance. The collaboration resulted in a unique, interactive choreography where humans and drones move in sync. Precise computer control allowed for a large performance and movement of the quadcopters and opened the door to many more applications in the future.
3. Sziget Festival - Dancing with Drones
Hungary, August 2015
CollMot Entertainment created the first-ever outdoor drone light show that combined real-time interactivity dancers and a flock of drones.
4. Cirque Du Soleil: “Paramour”
USA, 2016
This was the first time that drones were used on Broadway. For a few minutes, drones masked as lampshades danced in the air.
5. Shanghai Interactive Festival of Theatre
China, October 2016
CollMot Entertainment created a show with 30 autonomous drones as one of the highlights of the Asian premier of Murmuration (a 60-minute trans-electronic concert set in an ever-changing multimedia live sculpture produced by phase7 performing.arts).
6. Opening Ceremony of the 17th FINA World Championships

A spectacular drone light show by CollMot Entertainment held 300 meters above the Danube River was broadcast to hundreds of thousands of people around the world.
7. Metallica: Moth Into Flame
Denmark, September 2017
World famous rock band Metallica used a spectacular drone light show at their concert in Royal Arena of Copenhagen, Denmark on September 2, 2017.
8. Fantastic Journey Transports You to New Worlds
2017
The most technologically innovative production show ever presented by Princess Cruises featured 270-degree 3D-mapped imagery and 14 choreographed drones. Featured exclusively on Majestic Princess, their fleet’s most advanced ship, the show was created, directed and choreographed by American Idol’s Danny Teeson.
9. Inside a Knicks Game: Drone & Knicks City Dancers Choreography

The in-arena Show Open featured the Knicks City Dancers and special drone choreography.
10. Sunshine, Freedom and a Little Flower
Denmark, August 2017
CollMot Entertainment created a spectacular show where fireworks were launched from a flock of drones for the first time ever.
11. Puy Du Fou - Cinéscénie
France, 2018
France’s second biggest theme park after Disneyland Paris, Puy Du Fou permanently started using drones as part of Cinéscénie, the world’s biggest nighttime spectacle. The drones provide synchronised aerial choreography at heights of 60 m, in sync with lighting, pyrotechnic and special effects.
12. How Intel Made Its World Record-Breaking Drone Show

In the early morning on Sunday, July 15, 2018 Intel broke the Guinness World Record for simultaneously flying the most unmanned aerial vehicles with more than 2,000 drones. The previous record with 1,374 drones was held by China's Xi'an City Wall with drones made by EHang.
